  • Edgenuity Online Course Credit for July 2024 (Grade 9-12)

    Registration Instructions for 2024 Summer Online Course Credit June Session Dates: M-TH, June 3-27 July Session Dates: M-W, July 1-3 and M-TH, July 8-25, Friday July 19 (Lab closed, July 4) Computer Lab Times: 9:00AM-1:00PM Location: Cactus Shadows High School, Computer Lab #137 Fee: $195 per each course semester credit (.5 credit) Grades: 9-12 Before registering online, students must receive a completed ECS Edgenuity Course Approval Form from their CSHS Counselor. (Please read the essential registration instructions and course protocols below before registering.) Coursework and quizzes can be completed at home, but ALL Prescriptive Tests, Unit Tests, and Final Exams must be supervised in the Edgenuity Computer Lab at Cactus Shadows High School. Students are welcome to use the Computer Lab at CSHS to work on coursework and quizzes during the open lab hours. If your child cannot take these tests/exams in person, please discuss alternative online programs with your student’s counselor. Students may complete more than one course during the summer session. However, they can only be active in one class at a time to ensure they finish the first course before opening a second course. Students earn a half credit for each course completed. This is equivalent to one semester during the school year. ALL coursework, quizzes, unit tests, and the final exam must be completed by 1:00 p.m. on the last day of each session (June 27 for the June Session and July 25 for the July Session) to receive credit for the course. Incomplete courses, for any reason, will be recorded as an “F” on the student’s transcript. Students may finish early. The last day a student can open a course is June 13 for the June Session and July 12 for the July Session. Regardless of the start date, the deadline is the last date of the session in which the student is enrolled. If a student opens a course in the June session and needs more time to complete the course, a new registration must be completed in the July session to continue working on the June course. The July end date is the final deadline for courses paid to continue in the July session. If a student does not finish a course by the deadline of the session in which it is opened, regardless of their start date, an “F” will be recorded on the student’s transcript. Refunds are only permitted before opening any assignments, labs, quizzes, or tests. The request to unenroll must be made within 48 hours of the session's start date. Permission for one bypassed test at a time is allowed. All bypass requests must be emailed during the open lab hours. Requests emailed after open lab hours will be viewed on the next open lab date. If a student needs a bypass to continue working over the weekend, the request must be emailed before 1:00 PM on the Thursday before the weekend. The lab is closed on Fridays except for one Friday in July. ECS/CSHS does not take responsibility for any interruption to a course or course content access from personal devices. If a student is having trouble logging in or accessing the content of the assigned course, the student is responsible for coming into the computer lab during lab hours for access to their course and course materials until the access is restored from a personal device. ECS Edgenuity Online Course Registration & Payment Steps: 1) The Course Approval Form needs to be completed by your CSHS Counselor before registering for an online class. Please allow ample time to receive approval from your counselor. Do not wait until your final grades are posted before requesting course approvals from your counselor because there will not be enough time to enroll in the June session. Course registrations must be complete four working days before the first day of the session to guarantee the course will be open on the first day of the enrolled session. Receiving approval to take a course does not require you to enroll in the course. 2) If your family does not have a profile in our online registration system, Eleyo, a parent can set up a profile and add the child(ren) they wish to enroll at cavecreek.ce.eleyo.com.     Elementary Intro to Spiritline: Come spend two fun-filled weeks cheering and dancing! This class will focus on introducing basic Cheer and Pom skills including: motions, dance technique, jumps, kicks, flexibility, and more. Students will also learn a routine incorporating the skills they have learned for a performance on the last day. No Prior Cheer or Dance Experience Required.     Through writing and research, students discover the marvels of travel by using graphic organizers to research different vacation locations. They practice different writing skills including: Note Taking, Sentence Writing, Paragraph Writing. Students research different local foods, attractions and climate to create a travel passport of at least 3 different places they "visited". Instructor: Stephanie Holder
  • Finding Nemo: The Musical Cast (Grade 4-8) LMES/FAC - 6/3-28

    “Dive into a musical world of fun, adventure and laughter! Based on the award-winning Disney and Pixar film of the same name, this show is sure to delight audience members of all ages. This camp will consist of rehearsals for our final performance of “Finding Nemo: The Musical” on June 28th at 6 pm. In addition, students will bond with other cast members and play exciting and engaging drama and music games that will help build performance skills! Auditions will take place on the first day of camp. Please prepare a one-minute Disney song for your audition.   • Fun with Math (Grade K-2 ) LMES - 6/17-28

    This course will review the foundations needed to be successful in math. We will review basic skills such as addition, subtraction, number sense, fractions, and simple word problems according to grade level. This hands-on course will integrate manipulatives, number talks and interactive games. Instructor: Andrea Gurri If your child does not qualify for a scholarship, this class is fee-based and requires payment by the Wednesday before the course begins. Payment instructions: Please pay $205 when you receive the invoice. The deadline to pay is June 14, 2024. The student will be removed from the roster if payment is not made on this date.     This program includes K-8th grade students in one gymnasium. The opening activities are done together, and then groups are split between the two coaches, Alexandra Wampfler (CSHS Coach) and Ariana Gervasio (STMS Coach), to work on separate skill sets based on age and skill level. Future Falcons Girls Basketball Camp (Beginners) Hello girls, grades K-5, who are interested in trying out the sport of basketball or honing the basketball skills you already have, this camp is an excellent opportunity to work with the STMS Lady Stinger Basketball Coach and the CSHS Lady Falcons Varsity Basketball Coach! There will also be high school girls' basketball players at the camp to help you out! Participants will receive guided instruction in basic skills like dribbling, passing, shooting, and defending, with chances to apply their learning in daily games and competition, age and skill appropriate. There will also be high school girls' basketball players at the camp to help you out! Players will improve their fundamental skills of passing, dribbling, and shooting, as well as work on offensive and defensive strategy throughout the camp.   • Imagination Station-Famous Artists (Grade K-7) LMES - 6/3-14

    As students study the works of Vincent Van Gogh and Claude Monet, they will learn to create shading by creating patterns using techniques such as Hatching, Cross-hatching, and Stippling. These skills will prepare students to develop their own pointillism-style painting. Students will also apply these new techniques to various materials, including 3-D objects.     Students will cut fabric and learn multiple styles of stitches as they hand-sew fun projects such as hand-stitched creatures, accessories, décor, and more!     Intro to Dance: The class will challenge dancers to explore and expand both their motor and performing skills while having fun and building confidence.     Kinder Prep Camp 2024 (BMES - 6/3-28)

    Kindergarten is an awesome adventure in learning and what better way to set the foundation than with a summer Kinder Prep Camp! This class is designed to help children make the transition into a regular kindergarten classroom in a friendly, safe and fun environment. Students will be engaged in hands-on activities that include art, music, and free play, gross and fine motor skills. We will also be working on kindergarten readiness skills that include social skills, following directions, sharing, cooperative learning and taking turns.
