  • Chess Emporium BMES (Spring)

    Chess Club teaches a fun and exciting introduction to the game of chess. Club begins by teaching students how to play the game, chess openings, tactics, and endgames. Students will practice what they learn each week in games with their friends. Studies by major corporations have shown that chess can help students improve their math and verbal skills, creative abilities, and critical thinking abilities. Chess provides helpful insights into mathematics, visualization, analysis, and writing skills.

    Welcome to the Black Mountain Elementary School Dance Club! Open to kids in kindergarten through 6th grade, our club offers a fantastic opportunity for students to express themselves, make new friends, and build confidence. Each semester will culminate in a fantastic show, where our talented young dancers will have the chance to shine on stage. Join us for a fun-filled, energetic, and inspiring dance journey that will create unforgettable memories for your child! Parents are responsible for purchasing individual tights and shoes. Links to specific products will be made available if your child does not already have a similar item. Although practice dates vary per grade level, all tech rehearsals will be the same for grades K-6.     ENROLLMENT FOR STUDENTS SELECTED FROM THE FALL AUDITIONS ONLY Do you love to dance and want to be part of something special? The Black Mountain Elementary School Dance Team is a year-long program (broken into fall and spring enrollments) open to students in grades 3-6 who are passionate about dance. Whether you’re an experienced dancer or just eager to learn, this team is for you! Meeting twice a week, our team provides a supportive and fun environment where dancers can grow, make new friends, and showcase their talents. You'll have the chance to perform at our annual Dance Showcase and represent Black Mountain Elementary School at various events throughout the year. Our team will explore a variety of dance styles, including jazz, ballet, lyrical, and hip hop, giving students a well-rounded dance education and performance experience.     Athletics are an important aspect of education and should provide a wholesome environment for the development of teamwork, individual skills and self-esteem. Students will get the opportunity to play some of their favorite PE games and sports in this club.
