  • Art Club-Art Journaling BMES (Grade 4-5)

    Let your creativity spill onto the page! In this fun and imaginative art club, students in 4th and 5th grade will create their very own art journals filled with drawings, colors, words, and ideas. We’ll explore different art journaling techniques like doodling, collage, and mixed media. There’s no “right” or “wrong” way to art journal—it’s all about self-expression and having fun! Students will experiment with materials, try new ideas, and play with composition. Each student will receive an art journaling kit to use during the club and take home at the end so they can keep creating long after the club is over. The deadline to enroll is February 4th so materials can be ordered. Instructor: Stefanie Brick
  • Art Club-Hand Lettering BMES (Grade 4-5)

    Get ready to turn words into art! In this fun and creative art club, students in 4th and 5th grade will explore the exciting world of hand lettering. We’ll learn how to draw all kinds of cool lettering styles—like monoline lettering, faux calligraphy, and brush lettering—using a specialized pen. Students will practice making thick and thin lines, decorating their letters, and creating eye-catching designs. Each class will include hands-on practice to build the skill and mini projects towards the end. Students will receive their own kit and custom made workbook that they will take home when the club is over. No experience needed—just bring your creativity and a love for art! Enrollment deadline is February 2nd, as materials need to be ordered in advance.

    Black Mountain athletes will learn skills, practice, and scrimmage each week right on campus, right after school. Kids are divided by age/ability. Let's get back outside and play!
  • Bobcat Choir BMES (Grade 2-5) Spring

    Do you love to sing? Let your voice shine with BMES' Bobcat Choir! Come have fun and connect with friends who share a passion for singing and performing. If your child enjoys participating in their music special with Mrs. Nasr, they will love being a part of the BMES Choir where students build on the skills, like rhythm, melody, and harmony. No audition is required to participate in Choir, but attendance is important as the group will have a showcase performance on May 7 at 5:30 PM (call time at 5:15), and the district-wide OneVoice concert, which more details will be sent out regarding dates and times.
  • Bobcat Dance Company BMES (Grade 4-5) Spring

    Get ready to shine on stage! The Bobcat Dance Club is for 4th and 5th grade students who love to move, groove, and perform. We’ll meet Monday and Friday mornings from 8:00–8:45 am to explore fun dance techniques and learn exciting choreography as a team. Together, we’ll work toward our big moment—performing in the Spring Dance Show, evening rehearsals during the week of May 11, show on May 14! During performance week, we’ll have extra after-school and evening rehearsals to make sure our show is amazing. Join us and be part of a dance company that brings energy, creativity, and Bobcat spirit to the stage! IMPORTANT INFORMATION: The after-school rehearsal schedule, 3:30-5:30PM, is May 11, 12, and 13 @ the Fine Arts Center. THESE PRACTICES ARE MANDATORY. The showcase performance is on May 14. Rehearsal/ Performance Dates after school at the Fine Arts Center 5/11 – 3:30 until 5:30 pick up from FAC 5/12 – 3:30 until 5:30 pick up from FAC 5/13 – 3:30 until 5:30 pick up from FAC 5/14 – Dancers call time is 5 PM.     Calling all 2nd and 3rd grade movers and shakers! The Cub Dance Club is your chance to learn awesome dance moves, make new friends, and perform on a real stage. We’ll meet Wednesday mornings from 8:00–8:45 am to explore fun dance techniques and practice exciting choreography together. Our grand finale will be performing in the Spring Dance Show, evening rehearsals during the week of May 11, show on December 14! During performance week, we’ll have a few extra after-school and evening rehearsals to make our show the best it can be. Join the Cub Dance Club and let’s dance our way into the spotlight!     Instruction Program Includes -Get your junior golfer “Course Ready” -Students learn proper setup and techniques necessary to make essential full swing, pitching and chipping strokes -Fun, fast paced classes are full of challenges -Instruction program created by Top 50 Junior Golf Instructor and PGA Professional, Jeff Jones -Golf swing instruction and athletic movement skill training Junior Golf Success provides: On-site after-school programs using school fields or gym spaces All equipment provided — no club or course access required Age-appropriate instruction led by certified instructors Emphasis on athletic movement, scoring games, and life skills Our model is built to remove barriers and make golf accessible, educational, and fun for students at all skill levels. Many of our students go on to play competitively in high school and beyond, but more importantly, they gain a lifelong appreciation for the game and the values it teaches. Program Details -All equipment is provided for free -One-hour classes covering swing mechanics -Classes take place on the schools’ athletic fields, using a safe 1/3 weight ball that flies and performs like a full weight ball -Open to students in K-5th grades -Class size is limited.   • Stop Motion Animation with LEGO and iPads (Grades 1-5) BMES

    Tell a story! Be the star! Make your very own animated movies featuring your favorite LEGO characters in this fun and exciting after school club! We’ll bring all the supplies you need, including LEGO parts, Apple iPad tablets, and movie making software so you and your team can create animated short movies of your own using Stop Motion Animation techniques. While we hone our skills, we’ll learn about the basics of storytelling and the science and history behind animation and movie making. This is a 90-minute class, so you will have tons of time for creativity and fun!
  • Track & Field Field Events BMES (Grades 3-5)

    Students will learn the skills of the javelin, discus, running and standing long jump, and shot put. We will be practicing these skills on the CSHS track! Students will be able to choose at least 2 events to compete in during the big meet against the other schools on April 28th! Practices will be at 8 am on most Thursdays, March 19, 26, April 9, 16, 23 and on Tuesday, March 31st. The intramural meet will be on April 28th The Track and Field t-shirt is the same as last year so if you participated in the spring of 2025, you do not need to purchase a t-shirt separately. If not, please purchase your shirt at the separate link provided.   • Track & Field Running Events BMES (Grades 3-5)

    Get ready to sprint, relay, and hurdle in this club. Students will be able to choose at least 2 events for the big Track and Field meet on April 28th at 10 am. Their choices will be the 100m, 100 m hurdles, 200 m, 400 m and a 4 x100 relay. We will meet Monday mornings at 8 am. March 16, 23, 30 April 6, 13, 20, 27 and the meet will be April 28th. The Track and Field t-shirt is the same as last year so if you participated in the spring of 2025, you do not need to purchase a t-shirt separately.
