  • Reading Hub (Grade K-1) LM

This one-hour weekly class provides young learners with a strong foundation in phonics, the essential building block of confident reading and spelling. Using Memoria Press’ First Start Reading program, students will practice phonemic awareness, letter-sound mastery, blending, segmenting, and decoding skills in a structured and supportive environment. Rather than relying on sight-word memorization, this class focuses on true phonetic understanding, helping students learn how words work so they can read independently and accurately. Through guided practice, hands-on activities, and incremental skill-building, students strengthen their ability to decode, decipher, and comprehend words. These skills not only support early reading fluency but also build the foundation for strong spelling and lifelong literacy. Suitable for beginning readers, emerging readers, or students who need additional support in building or strengthening phonics skills. Students will receive a lesson plan to follow at home with a parent to continue their learning at home throughout the week.
