  • Cross Country (Grade 4-6) DSA

    Cross Country is open to all DSA students in Grades 4-6. Our coaching philosophy is to encourage physical fitness, promote good sportsmanship, support Team DSA, and of course, have a lot of fun running. There will be two after school intramural meets on 2/7 and 2/25 at 4:15 - 5:51 p.m. at CSHS Track/Football Stadium. Parents provide transportation to/from meets.     Do you love to sing? Join the Coyote Choir, open to 2nd-6th grade, of all musical experience levels! Music is the key to your soul! We will sing and explore a wide variety of styles of music and prepare for a Veterans Day and Winter concert. Details will be provided.
  • Edgenuity Online Credit Retrieval 2024-2025 Grade 9-12) Fourth Quarter

    Before registering online, students must receive a completed ECS Edgenuity Course Approval Form from their CSHS Counselor. (Please read the essential registration instructions and course protocols below before registering.) Coursework and quizzes can be completed at home, but ALL Prescriptive Tests, Unit Tests, and Final Exams must be supervised in the Edgenuity Computer Lab at Cactus Shadows High School. If your child cannot take these tests/exams in person, please discuss alternative online programs with your student’s counselor. Students may complete one course per quarter session. Students earn a half credit for each course completed. This is equivalent to one semester during the school year. ALL coursework, quizzes, unit tests, and the final exam must be completed by the last day of the session they are enrolled (December 5 for the Second Quarter Session, March 4 for the Third Quarter Session, and March 17-21 for the Fourth Quarter Session) to receive credit for the course. Incomplete courses, for any reason, will be recorded as an “F” on the student’s transcript. Students may finish early. Students must begin their assigned course by completing their Prescriptive Test within the stated dates per session (October 7-11 for the Second Quarter Session, January 6-10 for the Third Quarter Session, and March 17-21 for the Fourth Quarter Session) or the course will be dropped, and a refund will be issued. If a student does not finish a course by the last date of its assigned session, regardless of their start date, an “F” will be recorded on the student’s transcript. Refunds are only permitted before the Prescriptive Test is completed. Once the Prescriptive Test is taken, refunds are not issued. A student can bypass only two tests at a time. All bypass requests must be emailed to your assigned facilitator prior to or during the open lab hours to be addressed during lab hours. Requests emailed after open lab hours will be viewed on the next open lab date. If a student needs a bypass to continue working over the weekend, the request must be emailed before 3:15 PM on the Thursday before the weekend. The lab is open Monday-Thursdays during the session dates, unless it is a date that school is not in session. ECS/CSHS is not responsible for any interruption to course access from personal devices. If a student is having trouble logging in or accessing the content of the assigned course, the student is responsible for coming into the computer lab during lab hours to receive assistance until the access is restored from a personal device.

  • Kids on Track CSHS (Spring)

    Youth Track and Field. Young athletes are introduced to and participate in track and field events. Classes consist of weekly drills to improve running form, speed, coordination, agility, strength and endurance. Additionally, each week participants will experience a new track or field event. The course is not solely running-focused. Events include sprints, hurdles, long jump, discus and shot put. When necessary, events are modified to be age appropriate. The focus is to provide an encouraging environment with an emphasis on enjoying the physical challenge, and experiencing positive results.     MASTERING MATH classes allow students to improve their foundational math skills in preparation for the years to come! This class provides instruction in addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, elapsed time, measurement, and word problems according to the grade level. The environment will be fun, interactive, and student-based. The instructor is a teacher from the student's campus to benefit from collaboration with each student's homeroom teacher.     DEADLINE FOR ENROLLMENT: 11/22 MineClub is an after-school program dedicated to bridging the digital divide and teaching all students about the digital world, regardless of socioeconomic status. By integrating project-based learning with Minecraft, we educate students on internet safety, digital communication, and computer coding. The program begins with an eight-week classroom-style learning segment, followed by hands-on projects to conclude the year. Through our program, your child will gain valuable digital skills while learning, exploring, and connecting in a safe and supportive environment.   • Stallion Choir (Grade 3-6) HTES

    The Horseshoe Trails Elementary School Choir is open to all 3rd through 6th grade students. No audition is required. Elementary choir builds on skills introduced in your child’s general music classroom as well as team work. New skills include the expansion of the musical concepts of rhythm, melody, and harmony. Our team of students will focus on fine tuning their vocal and auditory skills through vocal exercises, part singing, and other harmonic singing experiences. Choir will rehearse most Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 8am-8:50 am beginning Tuesday, January 28th. Please carefully review the dates and participation policy below!   • Stallion Sticks Percussion Ensemble (Grade 5-6) HTES

    We are excited to offer our very own Stallion Sticks Percussion Ensemble at HTES for the spring semester. Students participating in the Ensemble do not need any prior musical experience. Students will explore ensemble playing techniques using classroom instruments such as xylophones, drums, recorder, and small percussion. The course will focus on playing in an ensemble, reading musical notation, beat, and rhythm. STUDENTS DO NOT NEED TO PURCHASE AN INSTRUMENT. There will be no auditions for this group. NO REHEARSAL: 3/14/25 & 4/18/25 Dress Rehearsal: Tuesday, 4/29/25 & Wednesday, 4/30/25 @ 7:50 am Performance @ HTES: Thursday, 5/1/25 @ 2:00 pm, 6:00 pm Participation Policy: Students MUST attend rehearsal regularly. Students are permitted 2 absences. Please notify Mrs. Lovewell with an email for absences. Participating students will be required to purchase a Performance T-shirt. Frequent tardiness to Instrument group rehearsal can result in dismissal from the club (late by 10 minutes- 4 or more times) All performances are mandatory. Students are expected to be on their best behavior. Any violations of the school or classroom rules may result in dismissal. Students are required to wear their uniform (performance shirt and black pants) to all performances unless otherwise noted. Students without their uniform will not be permitted to perform. Students are expected to participate to the best of their ability and learn their assigned musical parts. Practice materials will be digitally distributed to parents/ students.
